Theological Quiz
I found this quiz through some other bloggers. I guess I’m not surprised by my classification, but I do wonder about my second highest ranking. What exactly is Evangelical Holiness/Wesleyan? I did notice that Charismatic and Modern Liberal both were pretty low for me.
I’d be interested to hear anyone else’s results as well.

You scored as Reformed Evangelical. You are a Reformed Evangelical. You take the Bible very seriously because it is God’s Word. You most likely hold to TULIP and are sceptical about the possibilities of universal atonement or resistible grace. The most important thing the Church can do is make sure people hear how they can go to heaven when they die.

Yeah, I don't think I agree with my results. I found too many of the questions to be false dichotomies like "Relationships and community are more important than teaching doctrine." But, having said that, here are my results:
You scored as Neo orthodox. You are neo-orthodox. You reject the human-centredness and scepticism of liberal theology, but neither do you go to the other extreme and make the Bible the central issue for faith. You believe that Christ is God's most important revelation to humanity, and the Trinity is hugely important in your theology. The Bible is also important because it points us to the revelation of Christ. You are influenced by Karl Barth and P T Forsyth.

I'd be interested in knowing how you do and do not conform to the description of Reformed Evangelical given?
Here's the description for Evangelical Holiness/Wesleyan:
"You are an evangelical in the Wesleyan tradition. You believe that God's grace enables you to choose to believe in him, even though you yourself are totally depraved. The gift of the Holy Spirit gives you assurance of your salvation, and he also enables you to live the life of obedience to which God has called us. You are influenced heavly by John Wesley and the Methodists."
For the record: I don't believe that I am this, and I refuse to answer my own question posted above.
Yeah, I didn't like the quiz very much, but I guess that's a natural limitation of this type of survey. Yes to false dichotomies. And here's a problem I've often run into with surveys: If I select the mark equidistantly placed between Agree and Disagree, does this mean I am voting neutral? And how do I indicate that I tend to agree with something, but don't absolutely accept the statement as written? Also, I didn't understand some of the questions.
Just took it! 82% Reformed Evangelical; 75% Fundamentalist. Can't remember the rest!! Interesting quiz, though!
I believe that the evangelist in the movie The Apostle was a Holiness preacher.
Been thinking about baptizing yourself lately, Steven?
I love that movie. I've got it at home. It was an anniversary gift that my husband refuses to watch with me.
By the way, Steven, I love Graham Greene. My favorite book of his was Monseignure Quiote. I was really moved by The End of the Affair and The Heart of the Matter as well.
I can't spell. I was so concerend with spelling Monseignure (which I think I butchered anyway), that I neglected to pay attention to "Quixote".
Kelly: I would say I affirm all five points that people like to refer to with Calvinism. However, I don't think those points cover every point.
Jim: [shudder] I think I have a lot of baggage that kept me from completely enjoying that movie. I thought the movie was well done though. A movie I should have loved from an artistic standpoint. I don't see myself connected to that, but who knows.
Ah yes, Graham Greene. I just started that. I'm reading that as part of a book club. I've only gotten through the first 2 or 3 chapters, but I think I'm going to like it. I want to read The Power and the Glory too. There is a movie for The Quiet American that we are supposed to watch when we finish the book.
How cool!
I scored Reformed Evangelical, Emergent, Wesleyan, Neo Orthodox, Fundamentalist, etc. No real shock there. I was a little surprised Emergent was so high- but I have been reading Donald Miller a lot lately....
But Calvinists can't take tests like this- too many caveats. We wind up staring at the questions & saying stuff like, "Well, maybe, if such and such" or "I agree, if blank is qualified by grace". Then after 5 minutes, we decide to pick a circle, because it doesn't matter & God is sovereign anyway. Crazy Calvinists. The Arminians are still trying to be sure they pick the right answer so their salvation isn't endangered in any way. The Emergents are trying to find relevance in all the questions & the liberals are feeling guilty because someone on the street didn't have the opportunity to take the test & find out what they were. I had fun with it anyhow.
Chapter 4 on Graham Greene- Think I'm going to have to read each section twice.
Later, JM
Jeff, that's hilarious.
I got about half way through the quiz and had to stop. It seemed like only about every 5th question was clear enough to not be considered a trick question. I wimped out.
