New Riverwood Website

rpcwebsite.jpg

Whew, I just wrapped up the development of the new Riverwood Presbyterian Church website. It went live late Sunday evening. I have to say, this is the most fun I’ve had so far developing a website. I had a lot of free rein to set it up the way I thought would work best. We have a calendar that is fed from Google Calendar, a Photo Gallery, online audio with podcasting, a blog, plus a few other things. Check it out and let me know what you think…

…and many thanks to Tim, Melissa, Prathima and Jimmy for all the help getting content up and running so quickly.

Excellent job! I can't wait to see what comes up on the "riverblog"!

I have several comments, so I'll number them.

1) You are an amazing web designer. The site looks fantastic and has a nice, intuitive feel to it. I'm jealous.

2) My favorite line, "Catechism Class: Games, Snacks, Fun!"

3) What kind of heresy are you guys teaching over there? The calendar can only be imported to a Mac. Let's not forget the first two letters of PCA!

4) Sermon podcast; very cool.

5) The music minister looks shady, dangerous, and like a rebel. Very suspicious.

Thanks all. And Wes:

2) If anybody could make Catechism Class fun, it would be Tim Lien. Oh, and I can't take responsibility for the ad. Tim's wife Melissa is an excellent graphic designer and she's been doing all those.

3) Oh yeah, that's just my heresy. Tim's a big MS guy, but we've been working on him. Oh, and I plan on figuring out a way to add a link to add the calendar to the users' Google calendar. I am using Google Calendar to manage the calendar.

4) The podcast thing was a lot of fun. I've attempted to make the management of it all simple as well. So whoever has to upload the audio will not have to do anything besides put in the name of the sermon, name of the speaker, the scripture reference and the date of the sermon. The site will handle everything else (including pulling the actual scripture text).

5) Yeah, you got to watch that one. He's usually tripped out on caffeine.

I can't believe you even listed me on thank yous, all I did was to make sure I could upload pictures. Ha ha. You did all the work and deserve all the kudos! It's a great site and I visit it as often as possible.

By the way, Tim may "talk" like he's into other platforms, but we all know that it's a MS world.

Thanks Prathima and Amy.

Prathima, yeah, but that was GREAT! Oh, and it's only a matter of time before he comes over to the promised land.

Now that's a great church website. The scrolling is a bit much, but I AM on my macbook, so :)

Thanks, Josiah. Yeah, I just got a MacBook and I'm lovin' it. It's even better than I expected. The scrolling's not as bad with the two-finger scrolling though...

You know, I've yet to try out the two finger scrolling. I'll need to get on that. I do love the video iChat.

Oh man, the two finger scolling is sweet. I've used a Dell before with the scrolling on the right edge of the track pad. Two-finger scrolling blows that out of the water.

I've not had the chance to try video iChat. I like the looks of it.
